Travel packing for SE Asia

As I look to head out on my travels here is a small but sweet breakdown of some of the things I’ve picked up.

The main gear:
  • Gregory border 40L bag - My main travel bag, opens up like a clam shell and as of writing this post, fits everything I need pretty comfortably.
  • Cotopaxi - Cubo Travel Cube Bundle - Del Día - Packing cube I’m using for the Gregory, they fit comfortably and give me some space for some other items. I picked mine up from ebay for slightly cheaper, but linked to the main site above.
  • Bellroy Lite Ready Pack - This will a lightweight daybag whenever I am going on hikes/catching a plane. I picked this up on Vinted for a decent price if you are also looking to grab it a little cheaper.
  • Orbitkey Urban Sling Plus - A sling bag for when I’m walking around and wanting to take photos/attempt to take a video. I’ve been really impressed with it so far and it can store a tonne of things in a pretty organised way. For example I can carry my Fujifilm x10, DJI Pocket 3, Kindle, notebook, pens and water bottle pretty easily. It’s also really comfortable to wear and super easy to get things in and out of (as you might be able to tell I like this thing).
  • Muji Hanging Toiletry Bag With Detachable Pouch - Picked this up when I was in London and fits the essentials in there pretty comfortably. Also has a nice hook at the top if I need to hang it up anywhere and a detachable pouch (I doubt I will detach it much though)
  • Teva Men’s M Hurricane XLT2 Sport Sandals - Sandals! These guys are going to be essential as I’m walking around SE Asia, and are well recommended based on videos I watched. I also have to agree as I’ve given them a trial run and they’re both comfortable and secure around the feet.
  • Hoka Clifton shoe - For the more hike heavy trips of sport activites. I opted against taking my Solomon walking shoes in this case, hopefully I dont regret it.

Useful sleep goodies:

  • Loop Dream Earplugs - If I’m staying at hostels I will need some ear protection against the snorers (hopefully I don’t get many). Picked these up from Vinted a little cheaper than the main site.
  • Alaska Bear Sleep Mask - I’m very new to the sleepmask world so I have no clue if this is a good choice or not. Perplexity told me it was and I’m very much just going with the flow here.

Other essentials:

  • Honest mobile E-Sim - Giving this a whirl instead of having to buy an Airalo E-Sim. Essentially it can be used in over 150+ countries (perfect for my travels in Asia) and only gives you data access to certain apps. So I can use as much as I want for the essentials like:
    • WhatsApp
    • iMessage
    • Letterboxd (I like films ok)
    • Google maps
    • Apple maps
    • Hostelworld
    • Booking.com
    • Trainline
    • Grab
    • Gojek
    • Skyscanner
    • Mail
    • Banking apps (Monzo, Revolut etc)
    For only £45 a year it’s an absolute steal… If it works…
  • Read.cv explore cap - Being a chap from the UK I need that head protection. By far my favourite hat I will be bringing along. RIP Read.cv you were wonderful. Hi Andy/Medhi if you read this.
  • Uniqlo compact umbrella - I love this umbrella, I’ve had it for a long while and it can do no wrong.

Toiletry goodies - As mentioned above I have the Muji bag but picked up a few other goodies:
